Can My Marriage Be Saved? Can the Vibrancy Return?

We believe that, ultimately, nearly every marriage can be saved. Small pockets of marriages, usually ones that have violence, cannot and should not be saved because the violence just continues. But apart from that, yes, almost all marriages can be saved.

The reason for this is when you married your partner you were in love with them. Even if you didn’t love them as much as you do now, the seeds of love were still there. You wanted to spend the rest of your life with this person, maybe you have had children with them, and you obviously held them at high regard.

No marriage is without problems, it is what you do with the problems that make a marriage fail or succeed. Even it is only you trying to save your marriage, it can still be saved. What you need is a plan.

You can get advice on your plan from family and friends but beware, they may be bias toward you or your partner. Their advice will be a reflection of their values and ideals which may not be the same as yours.

Advice from a counselor is often a good approach; you can go to see them by yourself, if your partner doesn’t want to come along with you. But counselors are expensive, and many actually encourage divorce. The more people that split up then go on to have different partners, and this makes a continued source of income for some unscrupulous counselors. If you want to stay with your partner, make sure you find a pro-marriage counselor.

If you want to avoid the expense of a counselor why not consider one of the many systems that will help your relationship that are available online?
